Egyptian God Ra
RA - Ra was Egyptian God of Sun, agriculture and the
supreme God in Egyptian mythology. He was usually
portrayed as a man with the head of a falcon,
crowned with a sun disc. The Pharaohs of Egypt
believed they were descendants of Ra and it was
believed that when Pharaoh dies he joins God Ra in
the sky.
Every day at dawn God Ra came as newborn child, at midday he was grown and often seen as a flying bird or sailing boat while at sunset he became an old man descending to the underworld (land of the dead). During night Ra was seen as boat sailing through the underworld where he had to battle or evade Apep, the great serpent of the underworld, that sought to devour him. Gods Seth and Mehen were sometimes helping Ra in his fight with Apep. Ra was creator of Shu, Tefnut and humankind.
